What happens to an asphalt shingle as it ages

Inside every shingle is a layer of asphalt that needs its natural oils to stay supple. Year by year the sun bakes those oils off. Shingles harden, crack along their edges and let go of the granules that shield them.

Rejuvenation puts plant-based oil back into that asphalt. Sprayed across each slope, it soaks in over a few hours and gives the shingles back some of their bend. It extends the working life of a sound roof; it does not repair damage, which is why an assessment comes first.
